Project Description

Fort Bend County citizens approved the county’s largest bond in its history in 2023. The bond included $153 million for parks projects, including Bates Allen Park, a 236-acre park that is situated along the San Bernard River. The park consists of primarily green space and is also home to historic sites and the Fort Bend County Heritage Unlimited Museum. Bates Allen Park is also located near a large development that will bring thousands of homes to this area.  Throughout the park there are three live oak tree farms. These farms were established 10+ years ago through donations. When the park is upgraded with new amenities/facilities, these areas will more than likely need to be removed. Tree Mann Solutions was tasked with inventorying the three tree farms to assist the County’s team with information regarding their transplant ability.

The area was affected by Hurricane Beryl a few days prior to the project commencing, resulting in challenging conditions for the TMS team. Cell phone towers and GPS was spotty, the river
was over its banks and had flooded low lying areas of the park, and the heavy rainfall provided an ample environment for an overpopulation of mosquitoes.  In total we inventoried and made recommendations for over 5,000 trees on the site. Because of TMS’ deliverables on this project, the County is able to save time and money with the ability to search transplantable trees on site and locate them quickly and easily.
