Project Description
Valcor Commercial Real Estate reached out to Tree Mann Solutions during the planning phase of development of a 118-acre mixed-use tract between San Antonio and Boerne. Valcor noticed declining symptoms in some of the larger trees that were to be preserved with the project.
Our team visited the site and determined that the trees had symptoms consistent with an oak wilt infection and that the infection was actively spreading on site via root grafts from adjacent trees. The TMS team did a comprehensive assessment of all trees within the project area and identified numerous trees dead from oak wilt infection and directly adjacent to oak wilt-infected trees. Working with Valcor, we identified a management plan and containment strategy, treated high-value trees, and ultimately preserved the health and vitality in select trees slated for preservation including numerous Heritage trees.
Follow-up monitoring and treatment are ongoing through the construction phase, as well as arborist care for planted trees along the new alignment of Balcones Creek Road. We applaud Valcor for their investment into tree preservation!
